Starring You Birthday

Here's a birthday card I made today for 2 challenges.
The new Free For All Challenge on Splitcoast - to use texture, one color we don't like/often use, and a patterned paper. I texturz embossed the circles and did some piercing. The color I don't like is Crushed Curry and I used a bit of paper from Tall Tales. I also used a star brad.

The second challenge was from Just Add Ink - a sketch challenge. I changed the sketch to circles and made them overlap because of how big they were. I also added the circle/brad in the corner which wasn't part of the sketch.

I even decorated the inside!!! Bonus points for me!

Black and White Inspired

Here's a card inspired by JovialJudi. Her wonderful card is seen here.

I changed a few things but kept the layout and black and white theme with the wonderful layered punches! Here's a close up of the details:



I stamped the flowers in white on the black paper. I embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I stamped another flower, cut out and put over, secured with brad. There's a bit of distressing detail.

I layered 3 punches for the sentiment and added clear rhinestones and black gingham! The stamps are all from Stampin' Up! Fresh Cuts.

Beautiful Butterfly

Here's the card I made today.
It uses Vintage Vogue, Butterfly die, Well Scripted, clear rhinestones, organza ribbon, scallop edge and piercing (all from Stampin' Up!)
I got the idea of the layout from rachokie's beautiful card. The layout and butterfly are the same, but the stamp sets, color scheme and feel are very different.

I absolutely love how these colors turned out together - Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum, White, Black and Cottage Wall designer series paper.

The sentiment is embossed in white. I popped up the whole flower panel. There's piercing in the scallop edge.

French Filigree FUN

Same layout, different look!

This card uses the same layout as yesterday. It's from Clean & Simple Stamping Fall-To-Layout. What a great layout! I think I'll be using it again.

This card was made for a challenge to use orange. I used Pumpkin Pie and Dusty Durango with white and black.

The large swirl is from French Filigree background stamp. I just discovered a new way to use it! I love swirls! Not sure why I didn't think of this before!
The sentiment (with swirl) is Elegant Thank You. I punched it out, inked the edge and popped it up. The modern label punch and brads are behind it.

I also got used my crimper, linen thread and a button!

Shadow Stamped Tree

Here's my card for Fall To Layout from Clean and Simple Stamping. I love this layout! The colors are from Color Dare - Tempting Turquoise (I used Bermuda Bay), Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum, Basic Black.

I stamped the tree first in white, then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to position a black tree slightly off where the first one was. The tree is from Forest Friends (very versatile!) The sentiment is from Starring You and I punched it out with word window punch and used brads at each end. I used my crimper for the Bermuda Bay panel on the side and some Bermuda Bay polka dot ribbon.

Bright and Cheerful Thanks

Here's my 3rd Spring Clean & Simple card. This image from Fun & Fast Notes seems very spring-y and I thought it called for bright colors! The layout was pretty quick and easy to do. I knew I wanted to use a little bit of top note. I added a piece of patterned paper (from Tall Tales DSP) and added some piercing. The ribbon was the last thing I added.

Happy Everything!

Here's another SPRING card. This one features a beautiful embossed background and a big butterfly from Garden Whimsy. Very simple layering makes it stand out.



Here's what I did on the inside of the card. "Happy EVERYTHING". The sentiment is layered with punches and a die cut from Lots of Tags. I used a tiny strip leftover from trimming the front to put on the inside as well. I just love to experiment with layering punches. There's just so many great combinations to come up with.

Think Spring...

The Clean and Simple challenge for today on Splitcoast Stampers was to THINK SPRING! It was easy for me and the ideas just flowed together. Isn't this just the perfect image for spring, and colors too?!

I watercolored the cute image from A Flower for All Seasons. Then I highlighted some areas with Stampin' Write Marker. I also popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I did some faux stitching (pierce then connect the dots) with a purple marker. I added a few other embellishments and there you go! A cheerful card for any occassion!

Happy Valentine's!

A while back I was thinking about Valentine's card and whether my kids should give some (they are almost 2 and 4). I saw some very cheap at the grocery store and thought it might be fun. Then I thought, "why don't I make them, they'll be so much more special". So I started making a bunch of these about a month ago and sent a few out overseas (to family) and this week I sent the other ones and gave them out to those who live here.

Because I didn't have enough supplies for all of one color (and I tend to get bored making them all the same) I did some different color schemes. Which one do you like best? Each color scheme has matching elements of ribbon, patterned paper, heart and the flower the skunk is holding.



I love the easel card and it's so easy to make. People on the receiving end don't tend to know what to do with them exactly though.



Here's a close up of some of the details on the bottom. The "bling" I used I bought from the craft store. It was all attached together and I had to cut out each one individually - at least they were self-adhesive. There's got to be a better way! I wish SU would sell them. I like the clear rhinestones, but it would be nice to have something a bit smaller. There's 4 little "bling" on each card. One in the center of the flower the skunk is holding, one in the corner on top of the photo corner punch and two on the bottom piece as the "stoppers" to hold up the easel card.

Thank You Cottage Wall

My card was inspired by this lovely card by Melissa85 on Splitcoast Stampers. The only thing I kept the same was the layout.



I used the Cherry Blossom embosslit and little leaves dies. I stamped some leaves in the background with Embrace Life. For embellishments I used brads and ribbon. I also used Cottage Wall designer series paper and picked these colors from that paper. The sentiment is from Fresh Cuts.

Sweet and simple skunk

I was looking for a very simple and easy to reproduce layout. I found this cute card by Cheryl L Rowley on Splitcoast Stampers.

My card uses Tall Tales DSP and crushed curry. Who ever knew Crushed Curry could look so good! (It's one of my least favorite colors!) I used a clear rhinestone in the center of the flower and two punches - corner rounder and the new Scallop Trim punch.

Very simple and quick and looks fun and cute.

Abundance of techniques

Not sure what type of card fold this is called. It's very simple and easy to do. Maybe not as easy for the receipient to figure out?!

The above picture is the card closed. I thought the colors Not Quite Navy, Rose Red and Black looked really stunning together. Not sure if the Sahara Sand fits, or if it's just the dots I don't like. Anyways...


This shows the card with the flip up. That piece isn't glued, it's just attached with a brad. The rest of the card is glued shut, so the only opening you see is this little bit where I put the saying and flowers (in silver)


Here's the close up!

I did a few fun techniques with this card.
1) Faux Denim - just ink the paper directly with the ink pad. I really love how this looks with Not Quite Navy ink on paper.
2) Rock n Roll - The main image is actually 3 stamps put together, from the set Simply Said. The solid heart stamp I inked with Regal Rose and stamped off. Then I inked the edges again with the Rock N Roll technique and stamped.
3) Paper Piecing - I stamped the flower/heart stamp again and cut out two little flowers to glue on top of the original one.
4) Medallion - I used two different edge punches to punch all 4 sides of a 2-1/2" square and layered them. Fun look I think!
5) The card fold - whatever its called!

Hidden Message Slider

Here's one of the cards I'll be making at my next Stamp Club. It's a hidden message slider card. This is the card flat. Here's a close up of the details...

I did the flower (from vintage vogue) with Rock n Roll. I also inked the edges of the pink panel. The flower is stamped on white and cut up and popped up with a clear rhinestone in the center.

I used sentiments from two different sets - Sincere Saluatations, and Kind & Caring Thoughts. Here's a close up of the open view...

On the bottom when it's open there's a bit of the gorgeous Cottage Wall designer paper, a jumbo eyelet and polka dot ribbon.

Morning Digital card

Here's the card I made this morning quickly with My Digital Studio program! I did a SU demo challenge which is where I got this sketch. I used colors from COLOR DARE. Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Gray and neutral. Most of those are retired colors, so I thought it would be easier to make a Digital card!

My Digital Studio is very easy to play with and the options seem to be endless. It's so easy to create something and if you're stuck for ideas, you can always use their templates!

Cat card

I hardly ever use the cat image from Pun Fun as I'm never quite sure what to put it with. Here's a card for a Clean & Simple layout today. I added a row of piercing. I'm amazed the bow worked out so well!

I used Pun Fun (and cut out the cat) and the sentiment from Kind & Caring Thoughts. I used one little strip of paper from To the Nines designer paper.
