Pieced and Pierced

I made this card for Creative Crew SU! challenges on Splitcoast.

One challenge was to use the soon-to-be-retired 2011 colors.  Focus on your least favorite.  My least favorite was Calypso Coral.

Also the challenge was to use piercing in a different way.  I pierced a heart behind my sentiment.

The snail and flowers are stamped and cut out (paper pieced) on white, limeade and coral.
I inked the zigzag embossing folder with brown ink before running the calypso coral paper through.

Raspberry Poppies

Fun to make a card today.

I found this great color combo at Pals Paper Arts - Raspberry Ripple, Calypso Coral & Crumb Cake.

The layout is from RetroSketches.

I heat embossed the poppies with white on the Raspberry Ripple.
I used the smallest framelit behind the oval sentiment.  Used some SAB ribbon/button and a bit of scallop trim.  Embossed the card base with stripes.

2 for 2

I'm home on a sick day with my son, so I have some time to make cards!!  (I'm not neglecting him, he's feeling mostly better now and playing happily!)

I took two challenges - color challenge and a layout and made 2 different cards with some of the same elements.  The color challenge is from Splitcoast from last week - more mustard, old olive and midnight must (I also used very vanilla).
The layout is from Retrosketches.  I made one vertical and one horizontal.

I made this one to be a male birthday card.  I used chevron embossing and a glimmer brad.  See how I cut the framelit shape (green) to be only behind the top half.

For this one I embossed with pewter the music notes in the background.  The flower is 3 layers cut out and popped up on each other.  I embossed on the flag strips and also used my new Simply Scored plate for some scoring patterns on the bottom of the card.  Added two buttons to finish it off.

Popped up Poppies!

Popped up a coral poppy on top of a circle on top of a framelit. Also cut a larger framelit out of the DSP.  The other poppies are slightly colored in with marker.

Heart Music for Queen

I made this card for our Queen for the Day Challenge.  Click on the link to find all the details.

I embossed the big heart image with PEWTER!  Then I wheeled the music, then I added some color and blended with blender pens.  The edges are ripped and I added some silver paper and a ribbon.  The sentiment oval is popped up.

Red Poppies horizontal

Here's my second card using this new stamp background "pleasant poppies".
Very simple - I just stamped it in red and cut the top with an edgelit and embossed the card base to match.
I used 2 ribbons and a piece of silver glitter paper and 2 butterflies.

The colors are from Pals Paper Arts - Real Red, Primrose Petals and Pool Party

Sponging poppies to music

Playing with some new stuff!  I made this card for the Queen for the Day Challenge that I host.

First I wheeled the music notes in blue (I was not precise and some of the notes are very faded looking - on purpose).
Next, I stamped my new Pleasant Poppies background stamp with versamark and embossed with PEWTER!
Then I sponged, then I crumpled, the sponged some more!
Added ribbon and brads.
I'm quite pleased with my first Pleasant Poppies card.  Looking forward to using this stamp set often, it is so versatile!

Here's the closeup.  I took this picture at night time and so the lighting is not good.

New Framelits

2 more cards using my new framelits!

For this one I put the framelit on a bit of a different angle and pierced a circle inside of it.
I embossed and used a glimmer brad on the heart.
The layout is from CAS(E) this sketch!

Colors: Primrose Petals, Basic Gray and Pool Party
Stamp set: Secret Garden

For this one I used the smallest size framelit.  I used it to cut out only a portion of the big heart image from "You are Loved".  A very simple layout.

Colors: Pretty in Pink, Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse, White
Stamp set: You are Loved

NEW STUFF!

Yippee.  Got some new stuff today!  And I'm excited that blogger is even posting my pictures again, so I can show you what I made today!

I'm playing around with the window frames framelits and lots of texture!

On the top card I used 2 different embossing folders and also scoring!  Buttons for the center of the secret garden flowers.

The layout for the top card is from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

On this card I pierced around my apothecary accents framelit.  I used some silver glitter paper and glimmer brads.

I kept both cards without sentiments so I can add something when the need arises.

Queen myself - REDOs

Today what I decided to do for the Queen for the Day Challenge is that everyone gets to be Queen!
So you get to go through your cards from the last year and CASE yourself!
I've been having a very crafty time here as you can see.  I made 5 redos.

This first card uses a heart mask and sponging with piercing.  Colors - Marina Mist, white.

For this card I colored the flowers with two different colors, added some piercing and twine.
Colors - Island Indigo, Black, White, Not Quite Navy, new SAB patterned paper.

I used my square punch to punch out some fun colored patterned papers, glued it onto the card, then embossed!  I used the apothecary accents shape with the sentiment from "You're Amazing"
Colors - Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, white

I embossed with stripes (on an angle) and distressed with edges of the kraft background.
The cone is simply a triangle (embossed with lattice) and the cupcake punch.  I also used an embossed frame.
Colors - Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Midnight Muse, Choc Chip

Cut out the flower from Bloomin with Kindness and used some apothecary accents frames (pierced the dark purple one).
Colors - Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant.

Here are some small closeups.

Secret Garden FUN!

Playing with my fun new "Secret Garden" set and framelits!
I made this one for the challenges at Stampin' Royalty.
I used their colors from this week - not quite navy, soft suede, crumb cake and vanilla
and took some liberties with their sketch from last week!
Loved these colors - I had some patterned paper from the Festival of Prints DSP pack in these colors.

I used framelits and scoring.
The big blue flower is embossed with white and then I darkened some areas with blue marker.  The two smaller flowers I colored with 3 colors of maker.

This is one I made with "Secret Garden" yesterday.  I used an embossed frame with piercing and some framelits behind it.  The colors are cherry cobbler, pumpkin pie, vanilla and black.

LOVE again

Happy 2013!

Here's my first card for the year.
I used the stamp set "you are loved"

The layout is from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

The colors are from Hand Stamped Sentiments.
Primrose Petals, Pool Party and Black.  I used a piece of patterned paper from the new SAB that fit right in.
